Dr Sarah Bigby graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2009 and worked in general practice on the Central Coast of NSW before undertaking a rotating internship at SASH in Sydney. During her time at SASH Sarah developed a keen interest in anaesthesia and she undertook a residency in Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the University of Melbourne from 2013-2016. Sarah completed a Master of Veterinary Studies and a Master of Veterinary Science during her residency, which involved research comparing the effects of the anaesthetic agents propofol and alfaxalone on respiration.
Dr Bigby completed her specialist exams in 2019 and is a Board-Certified Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Sarah is particularly interested in using local nerve block techniques to improve pain relief for surgical and medical procedures.
After spending the last few years working at the University of Cambridge and a private specialist hospital in the UK, Sarah is excited to be back in her home state and closer to family. Sarah has a cat called Emmy, who has successfully trained her human servants to feed her at any time of day or night.
