Emergency & Critical Care

Becoming a vet was always an ambition of Philippa’s from a very young age. Born in Australia, Philippa's family moved to Hong Kong when she was 9 years old, where she completed her high schooling. With no vet school available in Hong Kong at the time, Philippa returned to Australia in 2003 to begin her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Queensland.

During her veterinary studies, Philippa worked as a research assistant and was awarded a scholarship to complete a research honours degree. In 2007, she graduated with both a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Animal Studies.

After graduating, Philippa completed a rotating internship at Pet Emergency and Queensland Veterinary Specialists before starting as an Emergency Clinician at Animal Emergency Service (AES) in 2009.

She furthered her skills by obtaining Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Emergency and Critical Care in 2013, and a Master’s in Small Animal Veterinary Studies through Murdoch University in 2016.

In 2014, Philippa joined the senior veterinary team at AES, a role she continues to enjoy for the leadership opportunities it provides. In 2020, Philippa led the AES veterinary team at AES Underwood and AES Jindalee as their Veterinary Manager for 18 months before joining the VSS Jindalee emergency vet team in 2022.

Philippa met her husband, also a vet, at AES, and together they have expanded their family to include two sons, one daughter, and their treasure trove of beloved pets. Passionate about travel, Philippa has been fortunate enough to visit numerous countries and enjoys seeing the world with her family when time permits
